Cannot create New Transaction in categories

Asked by Matteo

Although I can create a New Transaction in an Account either by using the Menu - Transaction -> New ... - or by using the transaction form, this is not possible in any of the categories - e.g Expenses, Cable: New Transaction is greyed out both in the menu and the transaction form.

Although I started recently to use Kmymoney2 - I was using Gnucash - I did not notice this problem up to now - but maybe because I did no enter directly any new transaction in a category.

So, is this normal?

That is by design. You can only delete a transaction from the Categories View. You cannot edit or create a new one.

You have to select an Account for that.

Thank you for your answer. Maybe you can help me further.

I have a "Cash Withdrawal" category under Expenses. In Gnucash it was possible to edit it. So, if I did withdraw 200 bucks one day from a bank account and did spend i100 for fuel one day and 50 for dinner another day I could add these expenses to the Cash Withdrawal category. Actually, "Cash Withdrawal" was like a wallet.

How can I do that with Kmymoney2? Or is there an alternative solution?

What I have for that is a Cash Account. I make a transfer from my bank account to that cash account whenever I withdraw money. Then I charge the expenses to that cash account.

Can you help with this problem?
