kmymoney reinvest income

Asked by Gil

I would like to reinvest the dividend from a security by buying more shares of the same security with the dividend.
Can someone help me in the step on how to do it.
I am using Quicken for now which is very simple to do in Quicken but with KMymoney I am a bit puzzle.

I would appreciate any help.

Have you tried the reinvest dividend operation in the ledger for that investment account?
What version are you using?

Yes, this is what I am doing. In the activity window I enter Reinvest Dividend, pick the security that I want to reinvest
enter the amount of shares and the price for share.
In Quicken that's all I need, with KMymoney I have to enter they amount of money in the categories interest income, then I get the enter prompt.
Also it increase the value of the share by the new amount enter which is wrong. It should increase the amount of share and the total value of the security.

I have tried many differents way with no success.

I am using the version 4.5.3

It should update the value of the shares to the latest rate you enter. If it's doing something different, then something may be wrong.
I guess the share value options for that investment are the default ones, right?

Nope, it is price per share.
