How do you set up new investments with ticker symbols?

Asked by William Naumuk

Don't have correct entry box- no space for ticker symbol, exchange, stock vs mutual fund, etc. I've been using MSMoney since the mid 90's and am lost. Want to set up account and be able to update price at will.

An investment account can have multiple stock accounts in it.
Create a stock account and you will have a field to set the symbol there.

No, this is no help because there are no drop downs within an investment
account in my 1.0.4 download to designate a Stock or Mutual Fund account. I
also can't accomplish a successful QIF import from MS Money.

In the investment view, right click and you'll have the option to create a new account.

Right clicking does nothing. I'm going to burn out the existing download and
try again. Your suggestions just apply to the basic download, don't they? Or
do you have to download the on-line banking module?

For all intended purposes, an investment account is like an account on your broker, you may have multiple stocks in it.
On the investment view, select the investment where you want to add a stock.
Then, right-click, and select 'new investment'. (I know, it's not the best choice of words). Then select the type of investment (bond, stock, mutual fund), and in the next pages you can enter the stock data, including the ticker symbol.

That's been there since 0.9.x and it hasn't changed, and it's not related to online banking, which I don't use.

Can you help with this problem?
