multiple instances of brokerage acct created on import; can't delete

Asked by Frank S

I created QIF files in Quicken 2007, one per Quicken account, and imported each into kmymoney2. For one of my brokerage accounts, about a dozen instances were created in kmymoney2. This, and many other accounts, turned up even though I did not export QIF files (I want to start over as of this year). While I have been able to delete the other dormant and closed accounts, I'm unable to get rid of any of the instances of this brokerage account -- the Delete Account item on the Account menu is greyed out.

I suspect it has something to do with there being multiple appearances of this one brokerage account, as I was able to delete the other accounts which appeared only once. I figured out pretty quickly that the ledger for the account targeted for deletion needed to be opened, in order to enable the Delete Account menu entry.

To delete an account, make sure it has no transactions and no schedule makes reference to it.
