Setting up my KmyFirewall on Kubuntu 8.10

Asked by John Paul Tan Galang

I recently changed to Kubuntu from Ubuntu from windows. I am trying to configure kmyfirewall and I followed the instructions. I used the template that is provided in kmyfirewall as a benchmark "workstation template". I tried installing the firewall to my local computer (arrow button), save the file and clicked run (lock icon). But I still see in the bottom of kmyfirewall screen, "firewall is not installed on my local computer" and I don't see any activity. Am I doing this correctly? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John

I don't know the product kmyfirewall. But I know Firestarter. It's a professional and userfriendly firewall and it works very well. You can find it by clicking Add / Remove. Enter Firestarter in the Search field. It's also included in the Synaptic Package manager. And it's easy to configure. Or you can enter "sudo apt-get install firestarter" in a Terminal.

Hope it helps.
