Asked by joelski_m

I have trouble installing Kismet in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. I have a usb wireless adapter with RTL8187 chipset. I configured the kismet.conf and place it under usr/local/etc. my source is, source=rt8180,wlan1,rt8180 (since i have another internal wifi installed), I also used my username in the said file, still it won't work. please help, I done everything that i know but to no avail...

Problem Fixed!

1.) make sure to update your "update manager"
2.)install "kismet" using:

    2.1) go to root by sudo -s, then enter your password
    2.2) use nautilus
    2.3) go to etc\kismet
    2.4) open kismet.conf and edit the file
           suiduser= <use your username here!>
           source=rt8180,wlan*,rt8180
           note: * means the number of your adapter. example if you have 2 wifi adapters installed
                      1 is linksys & 2 is belkin, make sure you do iwconfig to check the right number

3.) enjoy using kismet ;-)
