keep doesn't recognise external disk

Asked by Ray Chandler

I'd like to set a regular backup to an external usb hard disk, but the disk doesn't show up in 'keep' or in my 'media' folder even though it is visible and accessible from the main desktop. How do I get it recognised where I need it?
Thanks, Ray. I'm using xubuntu 9.04.

First I need to point out that keep is not well supported. See

http://jr.falleri.free.fr/keep/wiki/Home

Are you sure you want to use it?

Does your external drive appear as a desk top icon? I'm using Standard Ubuntu 9.04, so I do not know if Xubuntu does the same thing. If it does, right click the icon and select Properties, then the Volume tab. Does that show the mount point, e.g my USB stick is mounted as /media/disk.

Hi Ray

I have installed Xubuntu now. It doesn't give the same Properties dialog as Ubuntu, but if you hover over the disk icon it should show the mount piont

Thanks Tony. I have moved away from keep now and am using the Simple backup facility which is fine for my purposes.
Thanks again, Ray
