How do I get sound from kdetv?

Asked by mikering

I have recently upgraded top Gutsy 7.10 from Feisty 7.04 and kdetv lacks sound out of the box. This was not the case with 7.04. I have a SB Live 5.1 [SB0060} sound card as is confirmed by the Configure Mixer. Sound works fine in all other apps and notifications so far. At first pidgin had no sound too but I grabbed a selection of GStreamer plugins and now pidgin sound is fine. My default mixer driver is ALSA Mixer Plugin. Any suggestions to get kdetv sound to work?. I'll keep trying different things.

I solved kdetv the no sound problem with another application (pidgin) first by grabbing the GStream-plugins-base and the GStream-good-plugins and the GStream-good sets from the add/remove applications menu item. Then when I tried kdetv again I could hear very faint sound. I checked my master volume on kdmix and bingo I had sound. I'm unsure if the GStream plugins were required by kdetv but with adjusting the master kdmix volume the kdetv sound problem was fixed. It pays to keep trying different things.

Well I have gstreamer plugins, both good and base already installed and still I'm expieriencing problems with kdetv sound.
I dont think this is really a solution...
anyway... if it's really the thing that kdetv have something to do with gstreamer plugins (which I doubt)
then dependancies of kdetv should be checked.
