kmail doesn`t send

when I try to send messages, they remain in the outbox. at the beginning it worked fine one time, from then on I couldn`t send messages from any account. The program seems to try to send it, but doesn`t succeed.
sometimes, it displays `unknown transport protocol`.
with thunderbird, everything works fine. but I prefer kmail...

What mail service are you using? Hotmail? Gmail? Yahoo mail? Your company's internal mail server?

I am using several mail services including Gmail. But none works with Kmail, all work with Thunderbird.

Kmail( or Kontact) does not send in Kubuntu.Receiving is no problem.Filled out the configuration with my emailaddres andd my name known by my provider.
The password is given in the receiving par.As host I gave the sending -smtp.quicknet.nl-,which is OK.
Stil doe not send.
