export emails and directories from Kontact

hi,

I need to export emails (and attachments) and relative directories from Kontact 1.2.4,
respecting their hierarchy.
I can copy it on the desktop, but I can't copy it on external disk for backup:
a window appear saying "impossible to write on..."
how can I do?

Hello

Assuming your email client (such as evolution) is on a different system:

1. Make sure your /var/mail/username mailbox is empty.
2. Create an mbox email folder in KMail.
3. Move or copy all the messages you want to transfer into the new mbox
folder.
4. Close KMail.
5. Copy the new KMail (mbox) file to /var/mail/username.
6. Download mails to evolution via POP
