How to convert flash .flv file into mp4 or 3gp file.

actually i want to change the file format flash video in my ubuntu 9.10 machine
i have downloaded videos from youtube. and now i want to change these .flv flash videos in mp4 or 3gp format so that i can play them in my cellphone.
plz help me

I would recommend you check out the program Handbrake available from http://handbrake.fr/

It is currently capable of outputting to MP4 with AAC audio - which due to a "bug" ffmpeg is currently not able to do.

i am really thankfull to you.
but i got another way of converting .flv to mp4 by installing Mobilemedia convertor.

i dnt know whether this is legal one or not bt works :)

Thanks for the link, I've never seen/used MobileMediaConverter before but it certainly looks like the perfect program for mobile devices! I've bookmarked the page for future reference.
