Please try to install jasper related packages

Please open a Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install libjasper-runtime

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps

I'm able to run webcam at my end but my friends are not able to view it.
They are getting the following error message:
"This person's webcam is not available"

Is there any thing I can configure in Kopete to make it work?

installing jasper is the simplest solution
it can be installed thru synaptic or terminal or add/remove.

Hi,

I've installed Jasper per the instructions answered here, but yet, I can not send or receive any webcams (for Yahoo). I do see my webcam display in the Devices settings page, but yet, it does not send.

Also I noticed, when my friend attempts to allow me to see their webcam, the online status swtiches, saying my friend is now offline, and then when he cancels the webcam on their side, it shows them back online. All I see is "no webcam image" (or something to that effect).

Thank you!

I have the same exact issue as Senkusha! Now i have already done the following....

Now all that happened after doing this, is it allowed me to send an invite to see my cam....I still can not see my friends/familys, and they cant see mine! any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just went into Kpackagekit and installed the package.

Shame it can't be a hard dependency of Kopete, though, if Yahoo and other IM systems need it for proper webcam use.
