canoscan lide 20 problems

Gimp & Kooka seem to detect my canoscan lide 20 usb scanner but theres no activity on the scanner when trying to preview or scan documents, only black in the preview window.Scan mode is set to colour & I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 Any ideas, thanks heaps.

Try installing and using scanbuttond, alot of users has found it helpful.

To install scanbuttond:
 sudo aptitude install scanbuttond

and then type:
scanbuttond

to run the program.
