download locations for Ubuntu 8.10

Recently upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to 8.10 primarily because of disk storage problems. 8.10 seems to have solved that problem, but now when I go to find a file I downloaded (using ant.com downloader add-on), I can't find it anywhere. Have gone through changing main page of preferences under edit, but it won't change or still can't find. Any suggestions?

The ant.com tool bar downloads to a strange location, ~/.mozilla/firefox/<PROFILE>/antbar/
the <PROFILE> will be a strange combination of letters and numbers and end with .default
