kate doesn't show the terminal

I use the gnome environment, an like Kate as a text editor.
The terminal function on kate does not work. I installed Konsole.
Konsole works, but the terminal in kate doesn't.

any ideas,

Synaptic is showing that you ve got Konsole, as a dependency of Kate. Maybe you can check the installation of konsole and try starting kate from konsole and report any error messages you are getting and

Otherwise, EMACS should let you have a command line within the program...

I had konsole-kde4 instead of konsole.
I installed konsole and now it works.
