usb drives cant write to it

usb or scandisk camera memory cards are seen, but can't copy any data to the drives, permissions are all, user can do the lot??

Odd never had this before

Could you please describe the error message you get when you try to copy files to the drive? What type of filesystem is the drive? Also, what is the output of (with the drive connected):

ls -l /media
grep panic /var/log/syslog
mount -a
