After Ubuntu install, got error #18. What is it?

After Ubuntu install, the computer would not boot. Instead gave error #18. Could this be a hardware problem? LCD Monitor - could that be the problem?

When detecting hard drive in the bios, set it to auto, save the settings and exit.
