installing the system takes a long time

Asked by thelastone

I am trying to install the new release on a P-4, setting up the system it is taking a long time!
I started at 8:20 p.m. last night, and this morning it is still not done.
Any suggestions what it's going on?

Thanks, Support Team

I think we need a bit more information: which install method are you using?
* Live CD (boots the desktop, then installs graphically)
* Alternate CD (installs in a graphical terminal)
* dist-upgrade from Dapper (using apt-get to upgrade to Edgy)

Secondly, what step is it stopped on?

How fast is your Internet connection?

Everyone is upgrading right now and it may be having an effect.

Let us know what step it appears to be hanging on.
