Impossible to see content of NTFS disks: "hal-storage-fixed-mount-all-options refused uid 1000" message. Also impossible to logout from some www mailboxes (www.seznam.cz).

Asked by Pria

I have installed Kubuntu on my pc but it cant open any disks - neither by dolphin, neither by Konqueror. It gives me message: "hal-storage-fixed-mount-all-options refused uid 1000" What can I do? because, as it is, now, it is completely useless...

Also, when I chcek my emails in my mailbox on www, it is impossible to log out. I have to just quit Konqueror and start it again. It is pretty hassle...

Thanks for a proper help.

Thanks for the question.

What groups is your useraccount member of?

You can get this information by going to K-Menu->System Settings->User Management. At the bottom of the page you have primary group and secondary groups.

Thanks

I have the same problem. I'm in group 1000 ( my username), and also in adm, dialout, cdrom, floppy, audio, dip, video, plugdev, scanner, netdev, lpadmin, powerd

It's OK now, but I suggest adding ntfs-config by default in multi-boot environments.

Yes, I had the same problem. This fixed it for me:
Open synaptic and install ntfs-config, this is under the system config menu.
In a terminal window type:
sudo ntfs-config
a gui pops up and afer you go through it your file systems should be readable

NO - (ntfs-config:9761): Gtk-WARNING ** cannot open display
Fresh installation of Hardy Heron (gtk IS installed, of course)

Can you help with this problem?
