I wish to uninstall Kubuntu from my HDD but even if I place a CD (boot from CD first) it just boots Kubuntu from the HDD

Asked by Eugene LeDuc

I have installed Kubuntu on a system - Asus A8N32-SLI mutherboard, AMD Athlon 64FX/64 and an X2/64 Sempron processors. It has only one HDD. I want to sell the computer but I cannot remove the OS , (Don't hate me) I need to load XP back, but no matter what I do it just boots Kubuntu. I wanted to learn about Kubuntu but now I need the $$! I have the boot device set to the optical drive and I can see the CD contents, but it won't boot with the XP disk nor will it run install.exe after Kubumtu boots.

You can boot on Ubuntu CD, System->Administration->Gparted and remove all partitions, and even MS-DOS partition table. But you are supposed to succeed with only XP DVD, so perhaps you have another problem.

Enter the BIOS and change the first boot device to CD. Insert your XP CD and install XP. You may need to get drivers and install applications for the system but it should be ok. You will need to delete all the current partitions and install away

Hi, first thanks for the replies I appreciate your time! I can replace the drive and then boot from the DVD. So it looks like removing the format (all partitions) would work … If only I could figure out how.
What I have done is change the HDD then installed Xp. I will format the original HDD and replace it into the system.
