Problem with Magic Lamp effect on Kubuntu 13.10 and FGLRX

Asked by Raymund Zacharias

If the Magic Lamp effect is activated on Kubuntu 13.10 with fglrx 13.200 the screen becomes garbled until you restart kwin. On Kubuntu 13.04 with fglrx 13.200 this problem did not exist. Any ideas? I tried the 3.8.0-31 kernel (with Kubuntu 13.10) as well which results in the same problem.

I think I should specify: The screen becomes "normal" (no window decoration of course unless you restart kwin) once the old garbled kwin process is dead.

The problem still persists with fglrx_13.250-0ubuntu1_amd64. Instead of an all garbled desktop I get a black screen with a cursor on it now. Also I see a tiny bit of color where the window minimized to.

Btw there's also screen corruption in some cases. Especially with games. When switching ttys it happens that the screen loses signal which can only be fixed by restarting the computer.

It does not seem to be connected to the new kernel though since I tried it with the old 3.8 kernel on Kubuntu 13.10 as well.

Could it be some timing issue?
