I have Kubuntu 9.04 installed from a CDROM and I want to upgrade to KDE 4 64 Bit version!
I do NOT want to install from scratch!

If you are running a 32bit Ubuntu or Kubuntu, you need to install from scratch if you want to run the 64bit version.

When I INSTALL from scratch I always lose My Data Files and info! is there a way to stop this from happening or that they can be saved during the INSTALL?

If you have created a separate /home partition, you can re-use it in your new installation. But... always back-up! Be sure to also backup the hidden folders in your homefolder as it contains e.g. e-mails and addressbook.

Regularly backing up your data is a good practice anyway... some day your hard disk may fail.

Are you sure that you want 64-bit? As a rule of the thumb it will give you advantage when you have 4 GB or more RAM.

Can you help with this problem?
