choose between 2 soundcards

Asked by rhuddle2000

I have 2 soundcards; 1 builtin on the motherboard that the plug is broken and another soundcard that I installed in an open slot. How do I get sound to come out of the new soundcard but not the old one?

Please try this: Open a terminal from Application->Accessories->Terminal and type:

asoundconf list
> asoundconf get you the name of audio cards

asoundconf set-default-card PARAMETER
> change the PARAMETER value with the one returned by "asoundconf list"

Hope this helps
