Try running 'firefox' from the Terminal (System > Konsole Terminal Program). What does it say?

Also, make sure you downloaded and installed Firefox through 'Adept Manager' or 'Add/Remove Programs', as that version is specifically built for Ubuntu.

i installed/removed it with Add/Remove Programs.
error from Konsole:
--------------------------

** start firefox
root@owner-cpu:/usr/bin# firefox
/opt/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: 424: /opt/firefox/firefox-bin: not found

*** locate ......
root@owner-cpu:/usr/bin# locate firefox-bin
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox-bin

*** cd to it.....& run...
root@owner-cpu:/usr/bin# cd /usr/lib/firefox
root@owner-cpu:/usr/lib/firefox# firefox

/opt/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: 424: /opt/firefox/firefox-bin: not found

root@owner-cpu:/usr/lib/firefox#

okay i know the path must be wrong somehow.....
how do i fix it?

When you start "firefox", the script "run-mozilla.sh" in /opt directory runs.

This is not normal, at least in ubuntu 6.10.
Do you have an old installation of firefox or mozilla?

Try the easy way: remove /opt/firefox.

If it not works, from konsole, do the command:

   which firefox

It give you a path of the firefox executable.
I guess it is not /usr/bin/firefox :-)
Remove the wrong firefox executable.

Eventually reinstall firefox.
