no bluetooth on my hp laptop compaq tc4200

Asked by hawks58th

Hello, I'm pretty new to Linux but I'm just starting to get the hang of it and consequently getting to like it.

My problem is that kubuntu seems to think there is no blue tooth adapter. The technology certainly exists within my laptop as i have used it in windows. I've tried googling the problem with no avail.

My phone cannot detect my laptop so i assume my bluetooth is turned off or there is no driver, i just dont know what to do.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this doesn't help, but you didn't state what version. I installed Ubuntu 7.04 on my new Sony Vaio and the bluetooth wasn't detected. After installation, it prompted me to install 140 ish updates which I did. It then prompted me to upgrade to 7.10 and restart. Which I did. And then the bluetooth was there and working!

Apologies if this doesn't apply/help.

Nick
