open adept (Menu K -> system -> Adept-Manager)

open the menu "adept", select option "manager repositories". Go to tab "updates" and check the button "non-supported updates" (not quite sure about the exact label as mine is in french)

close the window, and in the main adept window, look for linux-backports-modules-generic
select it for install, you are done !

if you use 7.04 version of ubuntu plss try to upgrade your computer to 7.10 version of edubuntu because some driver in 7.04 cannot detect.. in version 7.10 it update all driver.

it seems that some levels are at zero, which leads to... no sound :-)

it might not be the only reason, but unmute all your channels (go in the gnome-volume-manager) and put the switches at 100%.

then try to play some sound.
