DVD & avi was working, now video corrupted

Kaffeine was working fine yesterday. Now the audio plays but get garbled video. I think there were some upgrades yesterday but don't know how to find out what broke it

I had the same problem with videos yesterday (Green garbled videos) but a restart fixed it.

Couldn't get KDE restarted, kept going back to Login. However today found the packages i had installed from source in the repositories, so reinstalled and used them and it's been very well behaved since then. If it was more obvious where proper adept manager was, I wouldn't have struggled with the Add/remove programs bit. I'm used to gnome and it's my first time with KDE.
