Hi RamonP
I too have lodged a question about this and had no answers... wonder if anything is being done about it https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/k9copy/+question/52147
I cannot seem to find any answers or work around on the forums as well.

Hi Kev!

The answer is simple. When typing the title for the iso image, do not leave
spaces between the words or just type underscores. It worked for me.

Cheers.

Hi again Kev!

When you click on "COPY" and you get that last screen, "save image to", that
is when you give the copy a name - remember: no spaces. To pick a file to
send the copy to, you pick one from the menu on that screen, eg: "VIDEOS"
and then click on SAVE. That ought to do it. Tell me if that worked.

Cheers

Hi Ramon, I too am having the issue of the iso file not being created. It appears that the disk structure is in the directory I chose, but no iso file. I tried the no spaces and the underscore but no luck, any other thoughts? Mark

It might depend on the hardware you have... if anything is sata connected to the motherboard then that might be half the problem. In my case it was my sata connected dvd burner ( SH-S203D) my old pioneer connected via i/o was fine. When I was playing with Intrepid, I took the risk of updating the 27.9 kernel to 27.10.. by allowing the pre-release updates and did the burns and rips again and this time iso files were created... worth a try but at own risk as the updates could stuff something else up..

I have since gone back to Hardy as most of the software is working well for it with the exception of the sata burner... I prefer hardy so will sacrifice the newer burner for that and hope that soon the correct controler or driver will be backported soon. Hope this helps.....

Hi Mark!

There is another guy name Kev who had the same problem as me, but when I
gave the hint about the spaces in the title, it seems that it didn't work
either. He wrote back to me and now it seems that all the problem was
brought about by the hardware: the DVD burner. I suggest you look into it
since I don't have any other solutions. But I can suggest that perhaps if
you go into your home folder and then to the KDE forder and erase the
configuration for k9copy and try a new configuration, it might work. Keep
me informed.

Cheers

an update...for Mark & Ramon
I have the sata dvd burner drive working in Hardy and k9copy... not sure what did it but 2 things I have done this week.
1. I flashed my motherboard with the newest flashy stuff from the manufacturer. So that is now up to date, seems the hard drive is not so fussy now too.
2. Nice clean install of hardy with a super 1 sudo install command from terminal that I made up.. This like codecs and other programs i use all the time. So instead to taking me a day or two it happens all at once... love terminal commands once you know what you are doing.

So Flash motherboard if you can ( at own risk) and that might do it...

Ok I can confirm that this was MY solution... hope it helps others...
I can now back up our dvd's and have spaces in the title save as.... yes SPACES..... SO do not rely on computer stores to supply you a new machine with up to date flashed Motherboards, even burning the iso had NO issues... Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Flashed my motherboard and all seems great now... installed a clean copy of intrepid and no install errors and so far the sata stuff is behaving.. happy boy.... but Ramon The k9copy version in Intrepid does not like spaces like you said hopefully it will be fixed soon one would think it would take the name of the dvd and insert it at the save as section by default like dvdshrink... does your k9copy take spaces yet or still none? At least my system is happy now... amazing what a good Flasher can do:)

Hi

Glad I found this post
This was driving me nuts
k9Copy on ubuntu 64bit simply did not create iso images at all - just bunch of tmp files and a folder full of VOB files.
I removed all spaces and '_'s from the paths and input and out iso images - now it works!

Thanks!

Regards,
Buggycode

Hello all, and very sorry to bother you with this again, but I have the same problem even after trying/checking everything posted above.

* Ubuntu Jaunty, 2.6.28-15-generic.
* k9copy v2.3.0 using KDE 4.2.2 (running under gnome, but KDE4 is fully installed)
* Gave path in the "save" dialog as: /home/myhomedir/dvdtemp/abcdefg.iso - No spaces, no underscores.
* Tried the above with and without the ".iso" extension.
* My DVD drive is IDE. The only SATA device on this system is the hard drive (ext3 formatted).

k9copy goes through the motions, shows me the preview screen, creates the two directories where I specified in the configuration panel, no ISO file anywhere to be found.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance to all.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same problem. I was making archival copies of my DVDs on a KK install with gnome. As mentioned here, k9c would create tmps and 'go through the motions'. Two different things made a difference. I'll post them both since I've only burned one copy per 'fix'. On one of my systems I installed KDE full, and ran k9c from the KDE desktop with no other changes, copy ran flawlessly. On my other system, I only added libdbus-qt-1-1c2 through synaptic. The only problem there is that I have to unmount the source movie DVD (from the GUI worked fine) to change to the blank target disk. Hope this helps as I spent quite a lot of time researching myself.

I too could not create an iso image and tried not having spaces between the title. All I could get were the two directories, one for audio and the other for video. I found that if I opened the video directory and highlighted the
VTS_01_0.VOB file and then rightclicked and selected "burn" it worked! It would be nice to have an iso to save, but if you had to you could save the Video directory for each disc in case you wanted to burn another disc. Hope this helps others!
