need information on how to format dvdriped .ifo & .vob files to burn dvd with k3b

Asked by Wix

Newbie!!! Used dvdrip to create xxx.ifo & xxx.vob files. Files are stored on hard drive. In the vob folder, resides a number of files which represent the original dvd. When I double click on each, the video player kicks in and get audio with proper video for each file. Need information on how to format these files (should only need the xxx.vob's) and merger them to burn a single / dual layer dvd. Trying to use K3B and it seems that I have a missing step to perform before I can burn the dvd. Appreciate the help!! Thanks........

The standard layout of a DVD with video on it would be 2 folders in the root

VIDEO_TS
AUDIO_TS

With all the VOB and IFO files in the VIDEO_TS folder. The AUDIO_TS should usually be empty and I believe is only used for DVD-Audio discs.

The easiest way to make backups IMHO would be using an app like k9copy.

sudo apt-get install k9copy

Can you help with this problem?
