why isn't possible to burn on DVD with 4.7Gb of capability

Asked by giuse

I've many audio files to burn exactly 4716648 Kb = 4,5 Gb, but k3b says that attempt to burn with a capability bigger than supported of DVD
and it finished with an error!
It's a bug of k3b that can't know DVD with capability bigger than 4,5 Gb?

Well, people aren't in total agreement on how much a gigabyte is anymore. It used to be 1024MB, but now it's 1000MB, which is 1000KB. Because of that, there are new units, called kibibyte, mebibyte, gibibyte, etc. Those mean what you (and I) think a GB means.

You can read more about that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte
and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte

Hope that helps..
