Burn from a mounted drive

Asked by Pete

Hi All,

I am trying to burn a DVD with files that are located on a windows share which has been mounted into Ubuntu, but I cannot see this drive in k3b. I assume that ubuntu doest like this because GnomeBaker also doesnt show up the share.

Any thoughts?

Can you at all access files on this share? Through desktop icon, places, or /media/xxx directory?

Yes, I can. I am unfortunately a bit of a linux n00b, and I would have assumed that you would be able to access all network folders as with that other operating system

Ok, so I had a second look at your post, and tried something. I can access the folder name via the media directory, however the folder is empty. The folder isnt empty tho, just in k3b

I didn't get it in the first place. This is a network share on another windows machine, right?

I can access such shares in k3b, no need to mount anything: Open-->Network Folders-->Samba Shares-->your workgroup (as set in windows, mshome probably).

Samba (client) must be set up (i didn't have to anything for that, but maybe you'll have to): https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpSamba

You can check if your shares can be accessed properly from terminal:
smbclient -L //xxx -N
replace xxx with machine name (same as in windows) you'd like to access, skip -N if you need password.

Can you help with this problem?
