How to use it after installing?

Asked by gcclinux on 2008-10-23

Hiya,

I've downloaded the .deb file, installed it and would like to try to use it (limited as it is) and maybe help improve it somehow.

Many Thanks

Ricardo

Hiya,

I've downloaded and installed the following packages:

julius_4.0.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
julius-voxforge_0.1.1~build726-0ubuntu1_all.deb

and I am trying to understand what is it that can do with this or how to use it or run it. If I understand this correctly it is a voice recognition software and that is what I want, i just don't know how to activate it or even how to start using and trying it's capabilities.

I followed the QUICK START readme file but I am not sure what words of sentences i can use and how.

Many Thanks

Rico

Those packages are almost certainly built for the development version, Intrepid Ibex. If you do not have that installed, there's a good chance they will fail to run as they are designed to link with specific shared library versions.

The project is relatively new, and the documentation is thin. The packager, RainCT, has written a quick tutorial which you can read at http://bloc.eurion.net/archives/2008/writing-a-command-and-control-application-with-voice-recognition/ . If you were expecting some sort of GUI system, that is not in the cards at this time.
