can't save new user and FCKeditor not showing

Asked by Adam-hardy

I have just installed the jspwiki package on Ubuntu saucy and I've got problems saving my user, saving my preferences for both user adam and user anonymous, getting the default toolbar to display, and getting the FCKeditor toolbar to display.

When I initially installed it without FCKeditor, in my preferences I just saw the editor dropdown had only one choice. The toolbar didn't work from the start.

After following the instructions on here http://www.ecyrd.com/JSPWiki/wiki/HowToManuallyIntegrateFCKEditor I noticed that there are already FCK js files in the package.

However, not fckeditor.js

So I unzipped the FCKeditor_2.6.10.zip into the /usr/share/jspwiki/scripts directory but that didn't help much. I moved the editor subdir down into the scripts directory out of the fsckeditor directory, and also the fckeditor.js file, and then the FCK option appeared in my preferences dropdown.

Still however the toolbar refused to load. Here's the js error from firebug:

TypeError: C is undefined
http://gondor:8080/JSPWiki/scripts/jspwiki-common.js
Line 1

From what I can see, the icons are loading for the FCKeditor (they flash up as the page loads but then disappear) but I get the javascript error in firebug when I click on the + to expand the Toolbar box.

I had it working a while back but this is a new install.

Is nobody interested in this?

These are big glitches. It would be great to have a working installation.

Bump.

Somebody might want to turn down the zealousness on the Launchpad janitor settings.

This is a support area where enthusiasts try to provide support for Ubuntu packages (without payment and in their free time).

It seems that no one of the persons working here has knowledge about the FCKEditor package that you have downloaded from some unmentioned non-Ubuntu source and installed manually.

You better look for help on JSPWiki and/or (F)CKEditor forums.

I understand that everyone is a volunteer here - don't forget that I am also only volunteering this info. The only pressure I feel to improve things here comes from a sense of pride that I am able to obtain, use (and get help for) a completely free, open-source OS and app collection. I'm reporting here because I want it to be even better. I am otherwise 99% satisfied.

I did check out jspwiki resources online to find a solution but didn't get anywhere. from what I could tell, it seems that this is integrated into the jspwiki package already, but incorrectly.

I think you must have skipped over my line saying that the package already has FCK JS file present.

Maybe somebody else who is also running jspwiki can check out the editing functionality and see if they get FCK Editor or not.
