Jocky crashes. Need help fixing issue. Hardy 64X

Asked by BoredomWarrior

Jockey keeps crashing. I don't know where to insert the patch specifically. I have an Nvidia 8600, and I just want to get it to work haha.

I know to go to the terminal, and I get to

sudo gedit /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jockey/oslib.py

and then thats where I end. I don't know where to insert the patch. I am a beginner user to ubuntu.

Hello !

Hardy is still in Beta testing and thus unstable. You might want to use 7.10 or wait until 8.04 is officially released (April 24th).

Besides, what is Jockey ? Where did you get it ? What is it used for ? What's the symptom of the problem ? When does the problem occur ? ...
Without these informations, even if 8.04 was stable we wouldn't be able to help ...

Regards,
Benoît

I had the same problem. It is probably this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/215027

For me, my nvidia drivers were working, even though the jockey kept crashing.

I think it will probably be fixed in a couple of days, there are also instructions how to fix it (if you don't understand them, then perhaps I would be better to wait for the official fix).

Can you help with this problem?
