cannot install Nvidia graphics card

i have downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.41.19.run since i could not enable Nvidia graphcis from Addtional Drivers section.
i get a systemError:Failed to lock /car/cache/apt/archives/lock
but even with NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.41.19.run, i get an error Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a different character encoding from the menu and try again.
what am i doing wrong? my graphic card is Nvidia Optimus which is 1GB nVIDIA GeForce GT540M (Optimus) + 1GB Intel® HD Graphics

Remove the lock and add it again from Additional Drivers

sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/lock
