Curious if the python packages for Jinja2 would be upgraded 12.04? Some nice features in Jinja 2.7 that would be great to have!

Asked by r3ck

The python-jinja2 package is the 2.6 version on Ubuntu 12.04.

Be great if this could be upgraded to at least Jinja 2.7 - as it is on 14.04 (I'm only looking at LTS releases).

There are some great new features in the 2.7 version.

Thanks!

This doesn't answer the question of whether or not the package will be updated on Ubuntu 12.04.

It does provide a somewhat of good alternative for acquiring the necessary software.

I suggest you report a bug. If the newer version has significant bug and security fixes then the repos will be updated.

There is NO automatic upgrade of packages for older and stable Ubuntu releases as soon as a new version of a program is published somewhere. Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for the background, and if the PPA does not provide what you want, you can create a bug report to request that the newer 14.04 version is backported to 12.04, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports

Can you help with this problem?
