Missing Spell-checker menu entry in Inkscape 0.48.1

I didn` t find on the File-->Preference Inkscape Menu' the Spell checker.
Looks like missing with the new Inkscape version on Ubuntu 10.10

Maverick ships with 0.48.0

yes you are right. What can you suggest to me?? I can compile by myself Inkscape instead of using PPA?
