If a sponsor agrees to upload my updated package, it will appear in the maverick-proposed repository, so it can be tested by users. In the meantime, you can try the (unofficial and unsupported!) version in ppa:valavanisalex/inkscape :

The binary packages are still currently being built in the PPA, so you will probably have a short wait before you can download them.
