Problem with indicator icons in 12.10 tray

Asked by michael ahern

I am having some problems with the indicator icons (not) appearing in the tray.
It has some similarity yo Question #215702 (which about the dropbox indicator, but more complicated).

Here is what is working:
 - The gear incon appears and functions.
 - The clock appears and the options work as far as the date, etc.
 - The system volume appears and functions.
 - The battery indicator appears and functionality works.
 - The thunderbird icon works with functionality

The current and recent issues:
 - dropbox icon does not appear at all, but the background sync is working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
 - the wifi icon no longer appears, but the networking is fine and controllable to the system settings - networking applet.
 - the new applets i have tried to install (like weather-indicator and calendar indicator). They installed properly and prompted for auth, etc,but new indicators.

Looking for any advice with the fact that these problems might be related. If one or two are application-spceific, I can deal with that later.

Thank you.

Appears that problem went away for now.

Did: alt-F2 unity, then rebooted. Tried rebooting and logging in as another user before with no results.

fyi: calendar-indicator still crashing. Submitted separate bug.
