Empathy not showing in messages menu

Asked by gary@nixnet.net

I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 and restored my home directory from a 14.04 backup. Now, after installing Empathy it no longer shows in messages menu and neither does the on-line status. I even installed yate and then removed it and that still shows in the messages menu but no empathy in there. I would like to remove the yate entry and get back empathy messages/status. I upgraded a laptop to 16.04 and had no problems. Neither computer has anything under ~/.config/indicators

Thanks

Gary

Found the problem. I was missing the telepathy-indicator package. I thought that might have been an installed dependency or called empathy-indicator but obviously I was wrong. :-)
