Redundancy with indicator-me? Suggestion: merge.

Asked by Tyler Nieman

I posted an Ubuntu Brainstorm idea here ( http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/26816/ ) about the issue and have received mostly positive feedback. As I'm not quite up-to-snuff with the process of branching and merging various codes, nor do I have anywhere near the proficiency with C-languages, I figured the next best step would be to see about contacting each of the projects individually about a potential merge. You can find the corresponding indicator-me thread here ( https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-messages/+question/140988 ).

The merge is explained in the brainstorm idea, but, for convenience, I shall repost it here:
"Solution #1: Merge the MeMenu and MessagingMenu
Simply merging these two menus would be the cleanest solution. I can't think of any reason why they shouldn't be merged. Right now there's duplicates and jumbled processes between them. I think that, Ideally, merging the MessagingMenu into the MeMenu would be the nicest solution."

My thinking is this: the messaging is going to be related to the user and the various statuses of the user, so merging indicator-messages into indicator-me would make the most sense. Plus I love that little indicator-me icon, much more stylish than the indicator-messages icon.

If this is not the correct outlet for this, please let me know where I can go or who I can contact in order to hopefully get some traction and/or feedback.
