Where do you source the month and day of the week names?

Asked by GunChleoc

We have outdated translations in date/time - e.g. "Dilu" instead of "DiL" for "Mon". Where are these strings sourced so that we can go fix?

The strings appear most notably when you clock on the time in the top bar on the right, and the calendar appears.

AFAIK these names are defined in the langpack-locales package.

Which language (which locale) are referring to? gd_GB or ga_IE? It seems that the following is true for both:

The latest glibc source from gnu.org has

% DiD, DiL, DiM, DiC, Dia, Dih, DiS
abday "<U0044><U0069><U0044>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U004C>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U004D>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U0043>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U0061>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U0068>";/
       "<U0044><U0069><U0053>"

but langpack-locales in Ubuntu vivid has

abday "<U0044><U006F><U006D><U0068>";/
            "<U004C><U0075><U0061><U006E>";/
            "<U004D><U00E1><U0069><U0072><U0074>";/
            "<U0043><U00E9><U0061><U0064>";/
            "<U0044><U00E9><U0061><U0072>";/
            "<U0041><U006F><U0069><U006E><U0065>";/
            "<U0053><U0061><U0074><U0068>"

I suggest you create a bug report against langpack-locales.

The calendar is fixed in Xenial now, but if I switch on the weekday names in the header bar, it still says "Dil" instead of "DiL" for "Mon" etc. Any idea which package that is?

Can you help with this problem?
