Is there an easy way to put the date and day onto the panel along with the time?

Asked by Janice Clough

On every version of Ubuntu that I've had before, the day and date have shown in the top panel as well as the time. I am now running 12.04 and have only the time showing. Is there an easy way to put the date and day onto the panel along with the time? Perhaps there would be a specific installation from the software center. Would anyone be able to tell me which program or application I could install that would accomplish what I'm wanting? Thanks for your help.

Hi Janice,

sure there is option to show date in panel. Press with your mouse key on your time panel and then a pop-up will open. Select last option to configure date and time settings and then there you will have in some of tabs which will open posibility to choose what is displayed in your panel.

If this helps you solve your question, please mark this thread as solved.

Regards,
Miha

Hi, Miha,
Thank you! Your instructions worked great and I now have the day, date, and time displayed as I wanted.
I would like to mention for the sake of the folks who work on problems and improvements that I am mostly using Gnome Classic as my desktop. When I went in as you said, in Gnome Classic, and clicked on "Time and Date Settings" it did not bring up the application for changing date and time. It instead brought up the "System Settings" panel, and left me with nowhere to go. I tried switching back to Unity 2D, and when I clicked on the"Time and Date Settings," I was able to easily do what you described.
