Actually nothing to add if sys tray is enabled.

Since Oneiric instead of gconf it's gsettings aka dconf available via dconf-editor, needs installation of dconf-tools.
If it doesn't display it's systray icon then add 'tomboy' to systray-whitelist of dconf-editor:
desktop.unity.panel

Test it in a terminal and just enter: tomboy
If it starts with the tray icon it should do the same on autostart.
