Human murrine removed?

Asked by Jaroslav Šmíd

Binary package hint: human-theme

I was using Human-Murrine from "human-theme" package in Ubuntu 8.04, but after today update there is no such theme. So Human-Clearlooks. If this is by mistake, fix it. If this is the intention, tell us why did you so.

This was intentional so I'm converting this to a question.

Yes, I agree, to the extent that the human-murrine theme was a very nice, welcome change from the 'normal' one (sorry for lack of precise name here), and I noticed it drew many positive comments about improvements in Ubuntu's appearance of mainstream media technology website's reviews of the beta release. Now, to see hardy-murrine being removed, seems like a regression. On the other hand thank you Ubuntu's art team's work, but could one of them please provide an explenation of why this has been done? Could it be an April Fools joke?
As a side note, personally I have manually downgraded to 0.13 that contained human-murrine, and are considering locking the package in Synaptic to stop update-manager asking me to upgrade it again.

Can you let us know the intention behind removing this theme?

I've extracted the Human-murrine theme fom the .deb posted here, so everyone can install it simply from the Apearance Manager without installing an older .deb. Here is the file: http://www.dibinserts.com/files/Human-Murrine.tar.gz .

Jerome, thanks a bunch! I'd grown very happy with that theme too!
I generally like thew new theme selection, but Human-Murrine is nice, and Clearlooks is a must! How can you remove the default Gnome theme?

I always go with the default theme since I think they make it blend well with the whole system so I would also want to know the reason for the change at this stage.
@Jerome Jolidon - Thanks.

Yes, we need a petition, because a new theme for a new LTS, and especially this brand new shiny theme, was a very good idea, and it's sad to see it removed now...

Should have done earlier but thought it was an April Fool’s Day prank.

I totally agree. I thought Human-Murrine was to be the official theme for Hardy, and I was disappointed when I discovered it was not so. But at least it was possible to change theme from the Appearance menu. But why removing it? Please answer.

Human-murrine is great ; i really miss it
of course, it can be enhanced for Intrepid Ibex , but it should be the defaut theme for hardy

Thanks Kenneth :)

Just a curious question : on which parts of the theme will you work for Intrepid (or which parts of the theme do you find no yet mature) ?
