make: *** No rule to make target 'prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp', needed by 'hpcups-ErnieFilter.o'. Stop.

Asked by Sheng Leong on 2020-08-05

Hi,

I have downloaded the source file for hplip (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/hplip/3.17.10+repack0-5/hplip_3.17.10+repack0.orig.tar.xz).

However, when I try to install by executing "make install", it appear this error message as shown below:
make: *** No rule to make target 'prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp', needed by 'hpcups-ErnieFilter.o'. Stop.

I found there is no prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp in the source file. So, is it okay to remove the code line related to "prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp" in every Makefile?

Thanks
Sheng Leong

Do you just want the latest HPLIP?

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy hplip

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I am using Yocto, not Ubuntu.

I just would like to know what is purpose of prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp? Why the default Makefile includes "prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp", but not included in the source file?

I would appreciate if you can help and explain on why "prnt/hpcups/ErnieFilter.cpp" is not in the source file, but included in code lines of Makefile in the source file.

Thanks,
Sheng Leong

This is Ubuntu support only. I suggest you post on the Yocto forums. There are distribution agnostic forums on the Web but this isn't one of them

These movements can't be accomplished with the aid of the machine that uses these partitions, however you have to boot from a one of a kind medium, https://campinggoal.com/ e.G. A live DVD or USB stick inside the "try Ubuntu with out installing" mode. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/692192
