HP LaserJet 1018 not printing on Ubuntu 8.04

Asked by Vadim Gusev

After installing ubuntu 8.04 I've, as usually, installed driver from http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/, reinstalled printer and tried out a test page. Nothing happened. I did everything like in 7.04 and 7.10, that leaded to good result, but in 8.04 i just cant print.

I'm having the same problem. I installed the HPLIP program, it did not help.

The OS or program see the printer correctly, but when you send a print job it does nothing....

After I installed HPLIP and ran "hp-setup" it started to work fine.

After installing printer cups displayed "job completed". It was detected but didn't work (marked things that didn't print as done).

hp-setup resolved the issue.

Running sudo hp-setup solved my problem too.
Many thanks for the workaround!
