I need to get my hp scanjet g2410 to work on ubuntu 12.04

Asked by Amir

I am new on linux and I really need to use my scanner. The drivers provided along with the scanner were only for Windows and Mac! I tried lots of search and couldn't find any solutions. I installed hplip but it also couldn't detect my scanner when I connected it to my laptop. Please help me out...

hplip is for printing.

sane is required for scanning.

According to the following links:

http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl?manu=Hewlett+Packard&model=&bus=usb

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=genesys&mode=filename&suite=precise&arch=any

the genesys driver for "sane" provides basic support for your scanjet.

So you need to install the following 4 Ubuntu packages:

libsane scanbuttond sane xsane
