HPLIP problems and printer laserjet p1005

hplip-3.14.3.run looks corrupted, it shows garbage after a while of listing it, and it never accepts superuser password.

I tried the download from a couple of mirrors; same result.

Debian is not supported by the Ubuntu community. It has it's own support channels which are separate from Ubuntu. I suggest you post here :
