HP 3520 printer network problem
Hi,
I'm trying to get my HP 3520 deskjet all in one wireless printer connected to my network so I can print wirelessly but I get a "communication error code 12". I download and installed the"HPLIP-Version: HPLIP 3.12.9" from the web site which should be the correct version for my printer and Ubuntu 12.04.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and I will paste the hp-check results below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.

supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).
Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies

How do you have your printer connceted?
I am assuming that you have a router and that both your Computer and Printer connect to it. Is this correct and if so is your printer connected Wirelessley or via a LAN cable.
If you are going this way I recommend that you configure the printer to have a fixed IP address. In which case what is it?
Or do you have the printer connected locally via USB?

Hi,
Thank you for responding. Yes, I'm connecting wirelessly to the printer
via a router, the IP is 192.168.20.101. I have pinged the printer and I'll
paste the results below:
I don't really know what that means but the trouble shooting procedure
suggests to do it so I hope that helps.
Thanks
Julian
PS I tried using the printer with the firewall switched off but I had the
same result.

It does not look like your computer can see the printer. To test this open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) enter the following command
ifconfig; ping -c5 192.168.20.101
This should tell us if the printer and computer can see each other

Hi,
Sorry for the delay, I've tried as suggested but I've gotten stuck with the user ID and password, the web site just rejects it?? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to input, I just use my Ubuntu ID and password?
However when I open the web site ": http://
I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
Regards
Julian
